I agree that block mode seems dubious.  I believe that iSER on iWARP
requires ZBVA though.


You're right.

However, iSER as its spec'd in the IETF, cannot work in Linux due to the linux networking maintainer's insistence that RDMA connections not share the same port space. Specifically, the spec mandates (for TCP only, not IB), that the connection used for the iSCSI login be migrated into rdma mode. IE you cannot start a different connection for doing the data moving part...
