Gang, I have added WriterOutputStream and ReaderInputStream as the reverse of the java.io.InputStreamReader and java.io.OutputStreamWriter.
They are most probably not optimized for speed, and right now only trying to do the job. The classes are needed in a commercial job in progress, so a release will follow shortly.
