Gang, Earlier today the power supply of SRV01 blew up, and caused disruption to the OPS4J infrastructure.
First off, DNS died and we have a too short DNS timeout, so all other services became unreachable shortly after, even if they are running on SRV03. DNS was restored ~4-5 hours ago, by moving it to SRV03. Secondly, SRV01 has been handling all the mail services, i.e. mailing lists, mail archives and a couple of people's personal mail. This was a lot harder to move to SRV03. I think this is now completed, which should mean that no more services are running on SRV01 and I think it should be decommissioned soonish. Further; We want to have a couple of backups of the DNS, SVN and Mail systems, so that when SRV01 disappears we don't end up with a single point of failure. Jayway Malaysia will provide backup, but I am requesting other volunteers as well. It means that you need to rsync against a bunch of directories on the srv03.ops4j.org machine and the traffic will be fairly low, but initial copy is quite large. And make that available for retrieval in advance! Point of having a couple is to not depend on one or two to live up to the expectations. ~4-6 would have been good. Anyone??
