We won't enforce, but strongly discourage the ttb pattern in OPS4J, especially so in the laboratory. Please re-consider; Nowhere else in OPS4J will you find it, and noone have raised the use-case for needing it. In essence; The laboratory itself acts as your "branches" for stuff in /projects or elsewhere. We have "qa/" (and later maybe "releases/") for tagging, i.e. only for stuff being released.
