Huh? Committing back to SVN after modifications? Sounds strange.
I think profiles should be;
* Maven artifacts in their own right.
* Extended search of such;
- Similar to Maven's own plugin search
- Abbreviated names and default group.
- Additional search in ${user.dir}/profiles or something like that.
