Guys,

Bottom line: we need to do something about our main OPS4J site which
is now the wiki to make it more attractive!

This mail is just about starting a discussion about this subject, so
please fill in your ideas about we should do about making the wiki (if
will still be a wiki ;) more attractive and useful for the user.
Here are some ideas:

* first of all we need much better documentation for our projects. I
know from experience that is not fun and easy to create the
documentation but what is the value of the project if the user does
not know how to use it? I stated doing that on Pax Runner and Pax Exam
and will continue to work on them and then move to Pax Exam /
Extender. Related to this I found comments on the web talking about
pax projects that they look great but the lack of documentation is a
show stopper.
Also it is important to present documentation for the "usual" user and
documentation for

* the site should be more eye-catching. we need somebody with some
experience on creating an attractive design to our site. Beside that I
do not know who can do such an job it is also the fact that we are
using Confluence so implementing such an design is even harder. Best
will maybe be that we get from somewhere an already built Confluence
Theme that we may only change a bit. If anyone interested on taking a
tab at it let me know that I can guide you on using the Adaptavist
Theme builder.
And check out this: https://www.adaptavist.com/display/Builder/About
So, it can be done.

* we need to redefine what we have on pages. I think we should apply
an "less is more" approach and do not load pages with info, but give
enough info to guide people.
As for example on the main I would put only a short description of
what is OPS4J, latest news (detailed) and flagship projects links and
important community links. Like for example on main apache page or
eclipse.

* we should somehow differentiate our flagship projects from other
projects so people will not be overwhelmed by number of projects which
some may be too low level for them. E.g. Pax Runner / Pax Exam should
not be presented at the same level as Pax URL / Reflector / Base or
Swissbox.

So, do not hesitate express yourself :)
