Generally, IDEA's M2-synchronisation is best-of-breed since v9. I
don't need
my IMLs anymore, as long, as the POMs are correct.
Also, you can simply back the files up using a command like this:
find . -name '*.ipr' -or -name '*.iml' -or -name '*.iws' \
| xargs tar cf ../idea.tar
Like that you can simply re-"inject" the IDEA files if you need to
do so for
some reason.
Even though both Gaderian developers work with IDEA, we agreed not
to keep
them in SVN.
