Achim and Toni, thanks for your comments.

But it was also the time when Maven Central was
not that central as it is today.

Maven Central is getting centraller and centraller :-)

Actually, it has become more Central than Maven, and it's now called The Central Repository, as you may have noticed.

I suppose this is Sonatype's way of saying "give us all your artifacts, no matter what build tool you're using", but anyway, I think it's a good thing to have such a central repo.

Coming back to Pax URL, I'm now getting a clearer picture of branches and release lines:

1.2.x on url-1.2.x branch: maintenance branch for Karaf 2.x
1.3.x on master: current releases
1.4.x: incompatible update with changes proposed by David and myself
2.x: major overhaul with distinct assemblies proposed by Toni

I think we can start working towards 1.4.0 on master. A maintenance branch url-1.3.x should not be created until there's a manifest need for it.

2.x sounds like a candidate for an experimental branch url2-milestones (similar to experimental Exam 3.x vs. stable Exam 2.x)

Does that make sense?

Best regards,
Harald
