*Position Title: Server Administrator*

*Role Purpose:*

The System/Server Administrator serves as the first level technician for
server and related network infrastructure setup, configuration, monitoring
and maintenance.  This role will be responsible for PC, server and software
installation, selected software, and application support.


*Key Accountabilities:*

   - Install and configure new servers (Windows and/or Linux)
   - Setup and administration of database servers and optimization and
   maintenance of these environments
   - Administer and execute server virtualization strategies to eliminate
   physical servers and optimize/maintain virtualized environments
   - Maintain and patch server environments per security requirements of
   the organizational security officer
   - Create and maintain detailed and current documentation on all aspects
   of network infrastructure, server infrastructure and architectures
   - Maintain backups and execute failover strategies for disaster recovery
   and business continuity of all servers and virtualized environments, and
   related infrastructures
   - Manage support calls and requests for systems, servers and
   infrastructure
   - Design, test and implement software and hardware tools for disaster
   recovery plan – conduct regular tests of technical components of disaster
   recovery plan
   - Monitor performance of LAN and WAN, and cloud environments, recommend
   improvements/optimizations proactively
   - Capacity planning, performance measurement and monitoring of critical
   infrastructure components, including servers, network components, and cloud
   environments
   - Periodic maintenance of web infrastructure as required.

*Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:*


   - 2+ years in IT systems administration and software development
   - Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 r2, Linux
   systems including Red Hat, and Ubuntu, and knowledge of interaction with
   desktop operating systems variations, version control, and system patching
   for security measures
   - Experience with virtualization of physical servers, scalability
   strategies and maintenance, backup, replication, and failover of
   virtualized environments
   - Experience with shell scripting and automation principles
   - Experience with configuration management and deployment frameworks
   - Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including DNS and DHCP
   - Experience with database server administration, configuration and
   optimization, specifically with MS SQL Server and MySQL versions
   - Experience with management of a LAMP stack
   - Experience with Microsoft Exchange/Outlook
   - Computer proficiency in MS Office tool suite of products
   - Preferred: experience with firewall administration, Visio for network
   diagramming, Exchange Server, IIS and MSSQL Server administration,
   OpenStack, Red Hat virtualization (RHEV), Oracle administration, VOIP
   systems.
