Hi Jim,
I don't think the camera-app you mentioned can work on Tizen IVI 3.0. It's
developed for Tizen mobile which is X based. But Tizen IVI 3.0 is Wayland
based, it can't work out-of-box.
Thanks,
Ning

HI
    what is your environment ?
Mine is tizen IVI M2 July ,and I use the
org.tizen.camera-app-0.3.81-1.8.i686.rpm<http://download.tizen.org/releases/milestone/tizen/ivi/tizen_20130729.2/repos/ivi/ia32/packages/i686/org.tizen.camera-app-0.3.81-1.8.i686.rpm>
package. When I install the package,it's ok. And then run it use
the cmd: launch_app org.tizen.carema-app . The terminal show : ... launch
failed. The log is "D/AUL (386):launch.c :app_request_to_launchpad(240)
>launch request result : -1 " .
    Thanks!

Hi ,
What is the issue you are facing in the camera-app ?
I have a PC webcam connected to a NDiS166 board , and the camera preview work
well.

starting with?
And as you mentioned , the gstreamer is supported in the ivi . I guess the
gstreamer + v4l2 can get the purposes?

My team has not done much work with a Camera for IVI. We don’t have a
reference hardware camera component to work with. Later this year, we will
probably start working with a MPX-885 camera, but not for a few months yet.

Of course if anyone else wants to help out Tizen IVI by doing some of the work
to get camera going that would be very exciting and interesting and I would do
everything I can to encourage them.

I’m pretty sure any “camera-app” you may find in the repos has is there based
on development done by Samsung for their target (mobile) system.

Regards
Joel

The Tizen IVI 3.0 M2 release is planned for December 2013. There are monthly
previews for M2 planned starting with July 2013. You can see the planned
versions and dates here:
https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TIVI#selectedTab=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.project%3Aversions-panel

Unlike the Mobile profile, IVI does not support the “OSP” native APIs. So
“Native” app development is done with the underlying platform component APIs.
For example you can use EFL or OpenGL, and also use gstreamer, or bluez, or
connman APIs etc. The “Lemolo” dialer is an example of a native application.
https://review.tizen.org/git/?p=profile/ivi/lemolo.git;a=summary. You may get
answers from the general tizen mail list that talk about doing native
development using OSP native APIs that won’t apply to doing IVI development.

Developers typically use GBS and MIC for development, and there is much
discussion here on how to use it. Here are some references.
