I think I found out my problem that I was referencing earlier when I was
talking about my indexer being stuck in a loop.

I transferred over the whole site (quite large, several thousand pages)
and was getting a problem with the search running infinitely over weird
directories. I would watch the indexer and see it cataloging.
http://www.blah.com/././././somefolder/./././././someotherfolder/somefile.htm

The longer it ran, the more "././" would show up with one initially and
the above after more than an hour. The database was also ten times the
size it was before, around 500megs. While it still seemed to function
when I would stop it, the search would take a seconds to run, though still
report .000 seconds. Not suprising as this file was large. I am using
the flat-file database...

By combing through all my folders (several tiers deep, this took me a few
hours) the problem appeared to only happen when one or both certain
documents I found were in the indexer's path. They were both .htm files
that had been edited in Word and saved as HTML. I did not notice this at
first, since I was working on a Mac but when I switched over to a PC, they
came up with the different icon that looks like a normal webpage with the
Word icon on top.

So it seems there might be an imcompatiblity? The search was going on for
over an hour, but when I would remove these files, it would complete in 90
seconds (Mac OS X + 800Mhz G4 I think.)
