If you haven't already noticed on the OSAF wiki, there have been a
few updates. Jared and I meet every other week on Tuesday to go over
what needs to be 'fixed' or updated on the OSAF wiki. Feel free to
file a bug under OSAF/Component: wiki, so we can keep track of requests.
Bread-crumbs are now visible. Please note it is up to the person
creating the page to make sure the pages are linked from the correct
topic page. (See instructions below to learn how to re-parent a page.)
We have slowly been rolling out a new 'Tab' (web home) based on the
taxonomy work Mimi/Ted had worked on last year. See mock ups of tab
sections: http://wiki.osafoundation.org/Journal/WikiReTaxonomy
We'll be asking each of the content owners to start re-parenting the
links so that they fall under the correct tabs (web homes). Note:
there will no longer be a 'Projects' tab (web home) after we're done.
*Instructions to re-parent a page:*
(The example I am using is the 'Product' web home: http://
wiki.osafoundation.org/Product/WebHome)
+ To start re-parenting some of the links (or sub pages) from the
Product page, first select the sub-page you want to reparent, for
example, Preview Target User Group: http://wiki.osafoundation.org/
Journal/PreviewTargetUserGroup
+ Click on the 'More topic actions' at the bottom of the wiki page
(in red)
+ Select 'Rename or move topic…, looking for references in all public
webs (recommended)'
+ Select 'Product' in the drop down list under ' To web:'
+ Check through the list of pages linked to Preview Target User Group
which will be updated to point *to* the currently modified page.
We're still testing to see if anything else will break on the wiki
before rolling out the rest of the sections. Currently we're aware
that links from archived e-mails and search engines outside of the
OSAF wiki will break. We're working on having redirects when someone
clicks on a link to a page which has been moved.
Next Design Session on Tuesday at 2:30PM, we'll be hosting a wiki
gardening party!
More info to come…
