When we started this list, we thought it would be a low traffic
catch-all for topics that didn't fit on any other list.

We've recently been using it for topics that span the projects (Chandler
Hub, Chandler Desktop, Chandler Server), and topics that apply to OSAF
as an organization, independently of individual projects. This includes:

- High level cross-project coordination (Preview countdown meeting
notes, topics that might be discussed at that meeting)

- Wiki gardening (in-the-weeds discussions about improving the wiki,
including project management conversations about owners and next actions)

- operations team topics (project governance, planning for sprints,
discussions about licensing, planning for conferences, etc.)

In other words, general@ has become more of a day to day working list,
not a low traffic general interest list. The ops team would like to go
ahead and change the charter of this list to support this function.

People who don't want these in-the-weeds discussions filling their
mailbox should unsubscribe and look to the blog
(blog.chandlerproject.org) or the announce@ list for less frequent updates.

While Preview coordination will move to this list, release management
would continue to happen on individual project lists. A quick review of
other lists:

- design@ -- this list is for detailed discussions about product design.
This includes interaction design, product planning, product management, etc.

- cosmo-dev@ -- day to day development of Chandler Server (technical
discussions as well as qa and release management)

- chandler-dev@ -- day to day development of Chandler Desktop (similar
to cosmo-dev@)

- service-dev@ -- day to day discussions about running Chandler Hub
(including project management for deploying new releases of Chandler Server)

- chandler-users@ -- for end users of Chandler Hub and Chandler Desktop
(also applies to end users for any other deployments of Chandler Server)

People downloading and building Chandler Server are best served asking
technical questions on [EMAIL PROTECTED] Similarly, people interested in
writing plugins for Chandler Desktop should ask technical questions on

Cheers,
Katie
