That is weird.

I wonder if bought the software (which I'm sure would take Google geeks
a few weeks to recode from scratch, probably in DHTML+canvas/svg instead
of flash) or the IP rights to that kind of visualization?

I think adding time as a dimension to a scatterplot is a very useful
feature... I really hope they don't start claiming IP rights on those
things or it might be a problem for us (even if, that said Sweden is
very liberal about these things, so I doubt it).
