Yes, there is an easy way to do this.

Set a javascript var to the date you want to be able to go to, then add
an html javascript hyperlink that calls the centerTimeline() function
with that var.

For example:

<script type="text/javascript">
        var Spirit = "November 17 1998 00:00:00 GMT";
</script>

Quick Go to: [<a href="javascript:centerTimeline(Spirit)">Spirit</a>]

(Your timeline)
