Omar, this is nice.  Have you thought about broadening from timeline to 
exhibit?  For example, if you go here:
http://theory.csail.mit.edu/~karger/jspub.html
you can see a set of publications that can be presented as a timeline, 
but can _also_ be presented in a more traditional bibliography form.  
Allowing something like that, with DBLP as a back end, would be neat.
