OK, I admit to being asleep at the wheel during the transition to WS and use of mirroring, but an Apache SOAP user has pointed out a small problem with the distribution site that I had not realized was happening.
Within the version-specific directories that had been at http://xml.apache.org/dist/soap/, there were some optional binaries (jars) that accompanied older versions (2.2 and earlier). These were jars for things like BSF and XMI. With only the current version mirrored, these jars are no longer available through the standard distribution channel. While the project docs have links for finding "current" versions of these, those links are outdated, and the user in question has not been able to track down binaries, and it is not clear to me that compatible versions of them are still available. I would love to be able to offer users a place from which to download these. Would making them available through the mirrors be against policy, common practice, or even illegal? If it is OK to put them on the mirrors, can I just copy them from /www/ws.apache.org/dist/soap/version-2.2 to /www/www.apache.org/dist/ws/soap/version-2.3.1? It appears to be policy that I create md5 checksums first, eh? Any support for doing this or suggestions for handling the issue in another way are most welcome.
