Many of you know that I have been working hard the past few months with the W3C on the XPath 2.0/XQuery 1.0 and participating in the design of XSLT 2.0. It would be very good to get feedback from the Apache community. Formal comments should be sent to the editors lists on each of the drafts. I would be glad to have informal conversation here on the Apache forums.
XPath 2.0 and XQuery 1.0 share the same base. The drafts are generated from the same XML source code. XQuery adds a query prologue for declaring functions and the like, and adds construction syntax and semantics. It also has a limited set of axes which it can traverse. The Data Model and list of functions and operators have been broken into separate documents. XSLT 2.0 adds lots of cool features that everyone will be glad to have, including function defs via templates, multiple output docs, searchable constructed result trees, grouping, etc. All of these are incomplete as regards the type system. A work in progress. But it's very, very important to get feedback from the user community now.
