As far as I can see, everything is now on the mirrored site.
I've been a bit tardy (the last downloads were moved a couple of weeks ago) but the mirror page is now fully up to date, active and linked off the main page ("Downloads").
Many thanks to all :>.
Cheers, Berin

Well we are nearly there.
Batik is done and AxKit is (I think) in progress.
So only AxKit and Xerces-P are still in the dist directory.
I've therefore enabled the mirrors page from the download link on the sidebar. I've added AxKit and Xerces-P to the page - I just put the links to the xml.apache.org/dist directory rather than the mirrors.
Let me know if there are any problems.

Peoples,
OK, Tetsuya posed the question yesterday "where are we".
Thanks for the prompt!
I have updated the mirror page with binary downloads as per Jeff's suggestion.
The projects that were left were :
xerces-j - DONE (I think? Anyway I have added to cgi page :>) xerces-p - NOT DONE xalan-j - IN PROGRESS batik - NOT DONE commons - DONE axKit - NOT DONE
So, no movement (I think?) on Xerces-P, Batik or AxKit. Is anyone willing to take on?
I am going to add one more link to the mirrors.cgi page, to point to the old download directory for those projects not yet converted, and then I will publish.
BTW - Have also added an ApacheCon logo to the front page.
Cheers, Berin

Peoples,
The general xml.apache.org mirrors page I think is pretty much done. Many thanks to Jeff for his (very patient :>) assistance with Forrest and to Vadim and others for their suggestions for changes.

Let me know any other updates you want. If I hear nothing I will link on the sidebar in place of the old Downloads link.
In terms of sub-projects, a number have moved accross, but we still have 6 to go.
Any volunteers? :>.
STILL TO MOVE TO MIRRORED DISTRIBUTION
xerces-j xerces-p xalan-j batik commons axKit
MOVED TO MIRRORED DISTRIBUTION:
fop forrest security xerces-c xalan-c xindice

Peoples,
I think many are aware that the ASF has put in place a system that allows other sites to mirror the files available for download from the various Apache web sites. This is all goodness - it allows people to download from closer to home at the same time as reducing the bandwidth utilisation for the main Apache site.
The XML project is lagging a bit behind other projects in moving to this new scheme, and it's time we bit the bullet and made this happen. The aim is to try to do this within 2 months - i.e. by the end of October.
Of the various XML sub-projects, fop, forrest and security have already moved over to the new system. That leaves :
Xerces-J Xerces-C Xerces-P Xalan-J Xalan-C Batik Commons Xindice AxKit
It would be great if the PMC members could look at what needs to be done to make this happen for their sub-projects. If people could report back to General as to who is going to take on what and then how they are going, I will keep a status list.
Having done this for the xml-security sub-project, I can vouch for this not being a huge piece of work :>.
Instructions for what needs to be done can be found at :
http://cvs.apache.org/~bodewig/mirror.html
and
http://www.apache.org/dev/mirrors.html
We probably also want to put together a general download page for the project - but one thing at a time :>.
Cheers, Berin
