I believe Dave is on vacation, and probably has limited access to a
computer, so I will do my best to answer you questions.

1) Unfortunately, generateDS does not yet support python 3.  It may be
possible to run generateDS with python 2, and then run 2to3 on the
resulting code to get python 3 compliant code, but I have personally never
tried that.
2)  Dave recently transitioned generateDS to using bitbucket for
development.  You can find the main repo here:
https://bitbucket.org/dkuhlman/generateds
