Hi to all;

I have just subscribed to the mailing list.

I am an electrical engineer, not a programmer or database designer. I
am interested in being able to do genealogy work using Linux, currently
I am using Family Tree Maker in Windows 98. I stopped most of my
genealogy work about a year ago when I bought a Linux box, after getting

fed up with Windows. I would like to get it going again under Linux.

I have not yet read all the mail, or found all the info on the project
status to date.

I am interested in the list of features that people are wanting in the
GUI, and I am willing to do testing, possibly also manual writing.

I would like to see the program maintain Gedcom compatibility, which
seems what is intended. I would also like to see a method developed
where there could be distributed data on the internet, and there can be
links between files maintained by different individuals. That way I
could have data that I maintain posted, and link to data maintained by
others, rather than try and include in my data the information they are
maintaining and updating. This might be done by a program along the
lines of GED2HTML.

I have a small web site now on line at
