Hi Peng, The escaping was not done correctly in one section of the url - in the original post, too (from another mailing list member). Specifically, there are two extra characters in the url (or more likely, two missing) and if I make either change, the rest seems to be fine, giving the expected error:
Couldn't open http://some.net/some.bb (fake url, so could not load, expected). I changed this: %20description=%a%20bigWig%20track%22%20 to be this: %20description=%20bigWig%20track%22%20 but it could also be this (probably the original intention): %20description=%20a%20bigWig%20track%22%20 The general idea of escaping the url is still valid. When you construct your actual url, make certain that the track attributes are appropriate for the data type. The example was bigWig, your data is bigBed. See #7 here for which ones to use for bigBed: http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/bigBed.html Jennifer ------------------------------------------------ Jennifer Jackson UCSC Genome Bioinformatics Group ----- "Peng Yu" <[email protected]> wrote: > From: "Peng Yu" <[email protected]> > To: "Jennifer Jackson" <[email protected]> > Cc: [email protected] > Sent: Monday, January 25, 2010 6:45:25 PM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific > Subject: Re: [Genome] How to load bigBed file from URL? > > On Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 2:05 PM, Jennifer Jackson <[email protected]> > wrote: > > Hello Peng, > > > > Instructions for creating a url to do this are in a previous > thread: > > https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/pipermail/genome/2009-August/019704.html > > I tried the following url.
