Good Morning Stephen:

The human and mouse sequence is available in ascii files at:

ftp://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg19/bigZips/chromFa.tar.gz
ftp://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/mm9/bigZips/chromFa.tar.gz

-rw-rw-r-- 1 948736151 Mar 20 2009 hg19/bigZips/chromFa.tar.gz
-rw-rw-r-- 1 859563384 Jul 25 2007 mm9/bigZips/chromFa.tar.gz

Even on a slow DSL line to a home computer, these files would download
in about 3 hours each. You could have them by the end of today.
Run these commands to fetch the files:

wget --timestamping
ftp://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg19/bigZips/chromFa.tar.gz -O
hg19.tar.gz
wget --timestamping
ftp://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/mm9/bigZips/chromFa.tar.gz -O
mm9.tar.gz

--Hiram
