Hello Dawn,
You can read about the details behind any track (description, methods,
display,
credits, references) by pressing on the 'mini-button' to the left of the actual
track display, or by clicking on the hyperlinked track name in the track
controls (below the display). In this case, click on the blue or gray button
to
the left of the human mRNA annotation track.
You will see, from the description page, that the "filled white
rectangles"
(a.k.a. "double horizontal lines") designate locations where both the genome
and
the mRNA have an insertion. You can turn off that feature by un-checking the
box on the configuration page:
Draw double horizontal lines when both genome and query have an insertion
