Hi Ginger,

Those are coordinates from a positional overlap (union) of the current
item and other overlapping items (if any), and DGV uses them as the
window coordinates in their genome browser for viewing that item.

For example, say there are several items that overlap (or not) as
follows:

        A ---------------------------- D ----------
  B ------------ C -----------

the "locus" coords end up like this:

    ------------------------------------- ----------
       (for A, B and C) (for D)

That's all! They're just a way for DGV to open its browser on a
window that includes the current item and all items that share an
overlap.

Angie

Subject: [Genome] question about DGV(database of genomic variants) data

Hello, Browser Gurus,

Sorry for pestering. I see a DGV track in browser and think maybe I can
get my Q answered here for the format of files downloaded from DGV web
sites.

They have 3 columns as

LocusChr
LocusStart
LocusEnd

Does anybody know what they refer to? I've searched around and emailed
their web email in vain. Thank you for any helps in advance

ginger
