Hi Niyati, For most of our gene sets, if you are only retrieving sequence for a few genes, you can click on the gene in the Genome Browser, and look for the "Genomic Sequence from assembly" link. You will be taken to a page where you can choose which parts of the sequence to include (select "CDS Exons" to get the coding sequence), and you will also be given the option to include any number of bases upstream of the gene.
If you need to do this for many genes, you can use the Table Browser (http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTables). Select your gene set, choose "region: genome", paste a list of identifiers to use, and set output format to "sequence". Then hit "get output" and choose "genomic". You will be given the same options to select certain sequences as before. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us again at [email protected]. -- Brooke Rhead UCSC Genome Bioinformatics Group On 10/24/10 17:46, [email protected] wrote: > Hi, > > How can we find the coding sequence and the promoter regions in a gene? > > Thanks a lot, > Niyati > _______________________________________________ > Genome maillist - [email protected] > https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome _______________________________________________ Genome maillist - [email protected] https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome
