Hi Stephanie,

kgXref is a table that has both the UCSC identifier and the gene symbol in it
(available for download here:
http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg19/database/kgXref.txt.gz). Please
note that a gene symbol may be used for several isoforms of the same gene (the
gene sorter only uses canonical gene listed in the knownCanonical table).

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact the mail list
again if you require further assistance.

Best,
Mary

Subject: [Genome] ucidentifier and gene names

Hi,
I'm looking for a file which gives the UC identifier and which links the
corresponding default name which comes up as the official name on the gene
sorter. kgAlias gives many different identifiers and I find it difficult to see
which one will be the official gene name on the gene sorter and which ones are
just different database identifier. Is there a file which just gives the uc
identifier and the corresponding official name on the UC genome browser?
Thanks a lot,
Stefanie
