These solutions are rather exotic, but you could also try one of these: - "andlinux":This is a modifed linux which actually runs on your existing windows installation, without any special installation requirements or modifications. You will have a relatively normal linux installation, access to your files and can run linux binaries from within andlinux.
- "virtual box": You install virtualbox.org on your machine (mac or windows), then go to http://virtualboximages.com/ and download an image of a virtual linux machine (like Fedora, Debian or Ubuntu) and run it from within virtual box. You would then have a complete linux machine running inside your normal operating system that you can start when needed. - "cloud": You could take your credit card, register with a cloud provider like Amazon AWS, transfer the UCSC tools and your files on the virtual machine provided by the cloud provider and transfer back the results. cheers Max -- Maximilian Haussler Tel: +447574246789 http://www.manchester.ac.uk/research/maximilian.haussler/ On Thu, Dec 2, 2010 at 11:48 PM, Pauline Fujita <[email protected]>wrote: > Hello GM, > > Unfortunately we only provide Mac/linux versions of the liftOver > executable: > > http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/admin/exe/ > > One option would be to use the web application available here: > > http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgLiftOver > > > > Best regards, > > Pauline Fujita > UCSC Genome Bioinformatics Group > http://genome.ucsc.edu > > > > On 12/01/10 13:50, Margolin, Gennady (NIH/NIDDK) [E] wrote: > > Hi, > > > > I wonder if it's possible to get a Windows and/or Cygwin version of > liftOver executable? > > > > Thank you, > > > > GM > > _______________________________________________ > > Genome maillist - [email protected] > > https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome > > _______________________________________________ > Genome maillist - [email protected] > https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome > _______________________________________________ Genome maillist - [email protected] https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome
