Hello Dafil,

You can get the transcription and coding region start and end positions
from the table browser (http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTables). After
selecting hg18, select:

group: Genes and Gene Prediction Tracks
track: (for this example we'll choose UCSC genes)
table: knownGene

To determine which gene prediction track best fits your needs you can
read the details of each track on its description page. The description
pages can be accessed by clicking on the blue/gray bar to the left of
the track in the main display or by clicking on the title of the track
above its pulldown menu.

To get coordinates across the whole genome make sure you have region:
genome selected. Then choose:

output format: selected fields from primary and related tables

This will take you to a menu where you can select which fields (i.e.
gene name, coordinates, etc) you want to include in the output.

Hopefully this information was helpful and answers your question. If you
have further questions or require clarification feel free to contact the
mailing list at [email protected].

Best regards,

Pauline Fujita
