Is it possible to construct a link to the UCSC browser using a gene symbol but without any position data? An entry point like this would be quite convenient:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?clade=mammal&org=Human&db=hg18&gene=FOXP2 since it would obviate the need to look up genomic coordinates when building the link.
