Please use rsync to synchronize files. It is much more efficient
than FTP. You can use the download scripts in the source
tree directory src/product/scripts/

Is your FTP client a 32 bit application ?

Subject: [Genome] ftp from ucsc site hangs

Hi!
I am trying to download some 2bit files from the ucsc goldenPaths area,
using Java FTP client packages. For relatively small files (such as
tetNig2.2bit), the transfer goes smoothly. For larger files (such as
hg18.2bit), the transfer does seem to download the entire file, but then
hangs at the end. This has happened with 2 client packages
(org.apache.commons.net.2.1 and Calvin Tai's FtpBean) - so it does not
seem to be a client software problem. It could be a setup problem on my
end - I am using passive mode and binary transfers. Has this problem
been reported by anyone else? Is there a ftp client
mode/setting/procedure that you would recommend I should use?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
B.Kumar
