Hello Hans,

You may download a list of human genes from the Downloads page. On the 
main UCSC Genome Bioinformatics page, click on 'Downloads' located on 
the left-side menu. On the following page, click 'Human' then 
'Annotation Database'. This will take you to 
http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg19/database/, where you can 
download the following file(s):
knownGene.txt.gz
knownCanonical.txt.gz
knownGene contains all transcripts, whereas knownCanonical contains one 
transcript variant for each gene.
