Hello, I am having some issues with the some genes in human that the certain gene symbols are present at multiple chromosomes while NCBI and and HGNC show them on only one chromosome. I understand the point you have stated before that the certain genes (with their transcripts) can be present at multiple locations in human genome and that the databases such as RefSeq and HGNC are evolving in better understanding of genes. I have two question though:
1. Are the gene symbols mentioned in UCSC Genome Browser table unique just like HGNC give unique gene symbol to each gene such that no two genes can have same gene symbol 2. Are the gene symbols of UCSC Genome Browser HGNC Gene Symbols? Thanks, Rahil _______________________________________________ Genome maillist - [email protected] https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome
