No, they can not. Dump them to ascii and rebuild.

Subject: [Genome] Directly merge bigWig files?

Hi,

I know that bigWig can be converted to wig and wig file can be
combined into 1 wig file. The combined wig can be converted to bigWig.

http://biostar.stackexchange.com/questions/4176/how-to-combine-multiple-wig-bigwig-files-into-one

Is there a way to directly combine multiple bigWig into one bigWig
file without creating the intermediate wig files?

Peng
