This is caught by another check, one that looks for things in $D that
are not part of $ED. In your case, $D =
/Users/stoile/Library/Gentoo/var/tmp/portage/media-sound/lame-3.97/image
But somehow, your base of $D is disordered. Though, if it is set in a
legal way, then $D should know this. (to be continued)
