You can always press F2 to see the verbose messages, or if you're rebooting after making a configuration change, you can just have an alternate boot option that doesn't hide the messages. Me, I use linux on my laptop, and love watching my classmates oooh and ahhh (they're impressed just by the penguin and my default gdm theme:) when it boots... helps me advocate linux. Of course, I try to avoid booting in front of an audience when I think it's likely I broke something:) Greg
