I've tried akregator as well, and can verify it works, but having become used to the newsticker interface, it'll take some time for me to get used to using a three-pane news or mail type interface for rss feeds. Note that KDE has individual packages now for these, but if you don't use KDE or have the base already merged, it will mean some serious dependencies. Answering the question in general, LWN covered RSS feed aggregators in an article, recently, reviewing and comparing several, including screenshots. Most of these are probably in portage and work on amd64, tho of course the review isn't amd64 or Gentoo specific and doesn't cover that. Several of the apps I see already mentioned in-thread were covered, so it's a good place to get an all-in-one-place comparison and comparative screen shots. http://lwn.net/Articles/138227/ According to the review, snownews is rather unique in that its a console/ncurses based interface, rather than X based. You mention it segfaulted. If you prefer X based, it's not worth worrying about it, but if you prefer console based, I'd certainly consider attempting to track down the issue. Try something else ncurses based, to ensure it isn't that, for starters. ncurses is used by enough stuff that it should work and is fairly widely tested, so if it's that, I'd simply try remerging it, ans the problem may cure itself. Once ncurses is known to work, try snownews again -- trying a remerge there as well as it can't hurt, if it doesn't at first. Beyond that, file a bug, since it's unmasked and should be working. -- Duncan - List replies preferred. No HTML msgs.
