Does the .1 more fix all problems magically or will it magically create more problems?
Seriously, any benefit other than bragging rights to having 0.1 more?
I do love your answer!

The 2005.1 and 2005.0 profiles are nearly identical, but that might change in a while, especially if you're using a sub-profile. Switching to 2005.1 won't change much, but that way you can be sure that you'll always get the latest improvements.

If you're on 2004.3 currently, first upgrade to 2005.0 using the upgrade guide [1], then switch to 2005.1 by simply doing

# ln -sf /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/2005.1 /etc/make.profile
