Sorry, I'm still on alsa-1.0.9 and with 2.6.13 newer alsa with changed
drivers came.
BTW, if what you do does not work, you can try to disable alsa in kernel
(leaving only general sound support) and emerge alsa-driver
It is stil at 1.0.9b for amd64 and will install old drivers. They did
work for me with 2.6.13, although currently I'm back to 2.6.11
