The problem is fixed, see below
if so some invisible typo is hosing fstab, looking around i have seen
people claiming the error message was cleared by using auto instead of
iso9660 and users instead of user
I tried several thing and finally discovered that the option 'user' was
spelled 'usr'. iso9660 or auto made no difference so I have returned to
iso9660.
