Hi,
I've set up a 32bit chroot for a few program to live in but when I run
firefox it seems to detect the running x86_64 version and spawn a new
window instead of starting a 32 bit firefox running.
Any idea how I stop it doing that?

Yes, shut down the 64-bit one. It's the only way to make it work with
the 32-bit ebuild binary.
