X.org has gone modular, and you need to update to match. The upgrade
guide is here:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/modular-x-howto.xml
Second, since installing openoffice-bin on my amd64 system, I get the
following...
emerge --oneshot =app-office/openoffice-bin-2.0.2
..........
Calculating dependencies
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy
"=app-office/openoffice-bin-2.0.2".
emerge -u app-office/openoffice-bin
This should install 2.0.3, which is the current version. But do the
modular-X thing first.

Thanks Richard,
But unfortunately it has not gone well. Started in section 2.6 where
you are to emerge xorg-xll, and right after it starts, it fails.
Rewritten here
!!! Digest verification failed:
!!! /usr/portage/distfiles/kbproto-1.0.2.tar.bz2
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got: 57853
!!! Expected: 57843
Obviously there is a size issue, and I cleaned out everything with
eclean to force fetches.
Also previous to this, (found after started troubleshooting)
# if [[ ! -L /usr/X11R6 ]]; \
then equery belongs /usr/X11R6 > ~/usr-x11r6-packages \
&& rm -rf /usr/X11R6; fi
runs without error, but after looking /usr/X11R6 is still present, so rm
did not work for some reason.
Richard, or anyone, would you be able to pass on some ideas on how to
correct this mess?
Thanks in advance,
Sean
