Have you thought about cleaning up your USE a little bit? I notice you've got just about every video card that's supported under Linux listed. Are you making some sort of generic install that you're going to be pushing out over a network or something? If not you should consider reducing your USE to only stuff you're actually going to use.
I wouldn't expect that to be the source of your conflict, but it can't hurt. And who knows, maybe it is? Then you could at least give the devs an idea of where to look.
