The 'taint' message is normal; it means the Nvidia kernel module
source is closed, so the Linux folk won't help you if your kernel
gives you problems.

I personally use the nv driver that comes with X.org, mainly because
X.org upgrades don't break it and I don't do much 3-D, but have found
that it is best not to have any of the Nvidia stuff installed at the
same time or X.org gets confused.
