When I setup my RAID here, I specifically arranged for root and a backup root snapshot to be directly on RAID partitions, because the kernel can handle them directly with only a bit of stuff on the command line (so in grub), no root on LVM as that would require an initramfs, and I preferred to keep things simple, because simple isn't so likely to break and is easier to fix if it does. -- Duncan - List replies preferred.
