do you have a bcm43xx chipset supported? from what you've said it seems that you have the 4318 chip, which is one the most horrible and bugged broadcom chips. i ended up buying another wireless card for 17€ based on an atheros chipshet and now i have a great experience with it. i also have all my settings set by networkmanager. Make sure you have all the kernel options for bcm43xx disabled if you go > the way of ndiswrapper, and make sure you still have all the wireless > options you'll need.
