Besides, with the list available on the web via gmane and the like, there's always the chance that someone with the same issue will find this discussion months or years later via Google or similar, and the followup report of what exactly /did/ work can then be helpful to an entirely / new/ generation of users! Never underestimate the possible audience of something like this!
