The suggested fix is a remerge of sgml-common, or if you've not done a full update in awhile, try that (with --newuse --deep as well as --update). There's also a patch to disable the documentation completely, but I'm not sure if it still applies nicely to 0.2.38 or not, as I believe it was for 0.2.36. Note that other packages may be affected too (thus the lack of esound in the bug title), but esound seems to be the common one. emerge fails on sgml catalog corruption - entity was defined here http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128952 -- Duncan - List replies preferred.
