OK.  So I'm guessing that you want gdm to auto-start, then.  ;]

Well, there's no point in fixing that "sed" line, then.  Since it is
designed to autostart X using "startx" from the command line, having a
display manager start before the root user gets logged in automatically
takes precedence.

Does IceWM require extra configuration after installing on a "normal"
system to work with GDM?
