How does one go about finding a mentor?
Just ask in the right place. =) I'd be happy to mentor you. But I don't have as much free time as I used to, so you'll have to be a little flexible when communicating with me. The first step is to prove you deserve to become a developer, by basically doing everything they do except committing: Looking over bugs, reproducing them, fixing them when possible. Instead of committing the fix, you can simply post a patch on the bug for review and committing by a developer. An easy way to start doing this is to add [EMAIL PROTECTED] to your watch list on Bugzilla, and preferably start hanging out on IRC. Much of Gentoo's real-time collaboration happens on IRC, so you miss out on a bit if you can't be there.
